Scribe arrested in Guwahati molestation case

Guwahati, Jul 20: Gaurav Jyoti Neog, reporter of city-based

channel, who had filmed the Jul 9 molestation of a 20-year-old girl here, was arrested on the charge of instigating the attack on her.

The arrest came a day after the Gauhati High Court rejected his anticipatory bail plea. "Neog has been arrested and will be produced in the court tomorrow (Saturday)," newly appointed Senior Superintendent of Police of Guwahati Ananda Prakash Tiwari told PTI. Neog was being questioned at Bhangagarh police station.

Team Anna member Akhil Gogoi had accused Neog of orchestrating the molestation of the girl before a bar. Neog had resigned from the channel earlier this week. Neog's boss and Editor-in-Chief Atanu Bhuyan had also resigned from his post. The journalist, along with his cameraman, had captured the entire incident on camera.

A Special Investigation Team has already decided to send the raw footage of the video for a forensic test.
