Senior AIADMK Min Sengottaiyan sacked by Jayalalithaa

Chennai, Jul 19: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa in a surprise move has sacked a senior minister from her government. Minister for Revenue KA Sengottaiyan was sacked and Thoppu ND Venkatachalam was inducted into the Cabinet in his place. The recommendation was passed to Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah by Jayalalithaa.

The new Revenue Minister will swear-in on Thursday morning at the Raj Bhavan. Venkatachalam represents the Perundurai Assembly constituency.

Jayalalithaa who has been in Kodanad in the Nilgiri district, Tamil Nadu for the last couple of days had just returned to the state capital. Sacking the minister is her first major decision upon her return. He was also relinquished from the party post of Headquarters' Secretary.

The shocking decision was taken after a meeting of the party's parliament members and members of the state Assembly to discuss the Presidential poll on Thursday.
