Jaipur, Jul 18: After the news of the three-year-old girl who was abducted from the Chhattrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) railway station on Jun 10 stunned the nation, another similar instance surfaced when a woman stole a six-month-old baby that was lying near its mother at the famous Sufi shrine of Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti in Rajasthan's Ajmer town. The abduction was caught on CCTV.

According to police, Mohammed Haji had come to the dargah to offer prayers along with his sister and her six-month-old baby a few days back. The police officer stated, "They were staying at a hotel near the shrine in the town, some 150 kilometers from Jaipur. They had come to participate in a qawwali Monday night. While the programme was going on, Sabia fell asleep with the boy on her side."

The police officer added that Haji woke up his sister at 2 am. "She found the boy missing. They immediately informed police following which we got the CCTV footage of the room in which the woman slept," said the officer.

On scrutiny of the CCTV footage, it was found that the woman sleeping near Sabia crawled up to the baby boy, took him away while he was sleeping and fled around 1 am.

The officer commented, "She got about an hour to escape with the boy before police were informed. We rushed teams to the railway station and bus stand in the town. However, there was no trace of the woman."

The police are presently on the lookout for the woman based on the images from the CCTV footage.
