Nepal: 36 pilgrims, mostly Indians, die in bus mishap

They were proceeding to a temple in Nawalparasi when the bus swerved off the highway and plunged into the Gandak Canal. The accident site is around 250 kms southwest of Kathmandu.
The bodies of 25 men, 10 women and a child have been recovered so far. The death toll could rise as the bus was overloaded. Ten of the passengers sustained serious injuries. They are undergoing treatment in nearby hospitals.
Since most of the victims hail from Maharajganj district of Uttar Pradesh, the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu has set up a Control Room to provide information to their kin. The contact number is +97714412135.
