UPA to field Hamid Ansari in Vice Presidential elections

Though Prime Minister Manmohan Singh called BJP leader Sushma Swaraj and sought her party's support for Ansari, she reportedly said that they are not inclined to back him. However, Samajwadi Party and BSP are going to vote in his favour.
If Ansari is chosen by the electoral college on Aug 7, then he will become only the second incumbent after Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan to get two consecutive terms. The former served as Vice President from 1952 to 1962.
