Mulayam irked with "anti-Islam" content on Facebook

Mulayam Singh Yadav
Lucknow, Jul 11: With the issue of content censoring on the internet dying down, Samajwadi party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav has bought it back to the forefront when he expressed his strong objections on "anti-Islam" material like cartoons and comments on sites such as Facebook.

Mulayam called for a blanket ban on anti-Islamic content on social media and said he will take up the issue with the Prime Minister. According to a statement issued by party spokesman Rajendra Chaudhary, on behalf of Mulayam, he stated that comments and materials on communal lines could cause strife and immediate action should be taken to avoid the same.

Mulayam also commented that, in the name of freedom of speech, such comments should not be successful in ruining the communal fabric of the country. He added that such activities were brought to his notice by SP's Mumbai unit chief Abu Azmi.

Mulayam said that an action plan should be put in force to avoid such slander on social networking sites, especially Facebook. As per the statement by Mulayam, Azmi conveyed that UP CM Akhilesh Yadav should also highlight the matter at the right avenue.
