Many Olympians indulge in booze, sex and drugs: Book

The Secret Olympics says that sexual orgies and unregulated consumption of drugs are quite common during the greatest sporting carnival in the world. Apparently a former British Olympian got an inside view of the goings-on and decided to reveal the same but only on the condition of anonymity.
Citing the supply of 70,000 condoms to athletes during the 2000 Sydney Olympics, he says that the entire stock was exhausted within a matter of days. There is mention in the book of how enterprising competitors illegally take liquor and drugs into the Olympics Village.
Some fill water bottles with alcohol while others smuggle in weed and doping agents. The book alleges that the International Olympics Association is aware of all this, yet officials turn a blind eye.
"No matter what your type, the Olympic Village can cater to it, providing the best physical examples on earth. Having completed competition, the athletes need to do something else to burn off their boundless energy. Like thoroughbred horses which haven't had a run for a while, they get frisky," the anonymous author noted.
The fact that the 2012 London Games are just round the corner makes the expose significant.
