Hamid Ansari to continue as Vice President for 2nd term?
Sources reveal that Hamid Ansari's name was discussed by the Congress Core Committee for the post of Vice President. Ansari's name has been discussed with the SP, Left Front, JD(S), BSP and JD(U) and the party is confident that Ansari will be favoured.
According to sources, Congress is yet to discuss the same with its ally and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee. Reports reveal that Congress is, however, not worried about her reaction as they already have the required number of votes to back Ansari.
Ansari's term as Vice President will end on Aug 10.
The election for the post of Vice President will take place on Aug 7 and the results would be announced on the same day. The nominated members of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha are also eligible to take part in the elections for the post of Vice President.
