Akhilesh blames BSP regime for power crisis in UP

He said his government has taken several steps in the last three months to improve the situation. "There were irregularities in purchasing transformers. The BSP government had purchased poor-quality transformers instead of good ones. In Gorakhpur alone, 700 transformers got damaged in three months time," Yadav said.
"Action has been taken against officials and firms responsible for supplying poor-quality transformers and more action will be taken place," he said. The CM also said new power plants would be set up in the state. Hitting out at the Mayawati government, he said, "The power department had suffered a loss of Rs 25,000 crore under the previous government. The situation was so that the banks were not ready to give loan to the government. Somehow, they have started giving loan again...and hence we can hope to overcome the ills."
