Corruption charges framed against Union Min Virbhadra Singh

Shimla, Jun 25: A court here framed

charges today against Virbhadra Singh, Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, and his wife Pratibha Singh in the sensational CD case.

The five-time Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh is accused of misusing his official position and granting favours to industrialists back in 1989.

Five years ago, a person named Vijay Singh Mankotia released a CD that contained the recording of a conversation between Virbhadra, his wife and an IAS officer relating to financial transactions involving those who wanted to invest in the cement industry.

After police booked the couple in 2009, Virbhadra appealed to the Himachal Pradesh High Court to dismiss the FIR against him. However, the court rejected his plea.
