Subramanian Swamy to take final decision on prez-poll?
The Janata Party supremo is expected to reach New Delhi on Tuesday, Jun 19 to meet veteran BJP leader LK Advani. Meanwhile, reports claimed that BJP may back PA Sangma who is the candidate of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa and Orissa CM Naveen Patnaik.
Swamy earlier on Monday met Sangma at his residence, though his (Sangma's) party - NCP still hope that the former Lok Sabha would withdraw his name from presidential election.
The hallabulloo among NDA leaders started when Dr APJ Abdul Kalam officially announced that he would not take part in the race to Raisina Hill.
Earlier Swamy, during an interview with a TV news channel, claimed that he was the 'sootradhar' for bringing back Kalam to the forefront in the race for the post of President of India.
Swamy commented in the interview that he was acting as "Hanuman" at the behest of BJP veteran LK Advani. He also took the opportunity to laud Advani in facilitating Kalam's journey to the race for President, but gave credit to himself for suggesting Kalam's name to Advani.
Now, when Swamy is again going to meet Advani, many started speculating that the duo may take their final decision. It now remains to be seen if fortune and parties will favour Sangma in this race or UPA's choice - Pranab Mukherjee will get an easy chance to become the 13th President of India.
