Raja, who was arrested over his alleged role in 2G spectrum scam, was welcomed like a king. Thousands of people gathered near the Chennai airport to get a glimpse of their "hero" who returned home after spending 15 months in Delhi's Tihar jail.
Raja reached Chennai at around 6:10 pm and sources informed that he has been scheduled to visit DMK supremo M Karunanidhi's house on the same day.
Over 2000 DMK supporters welcomed the former telecom minister at the airport. Many people around the airport were seen in T-shirts with Raja's pictures with lines such as - "flame of self-respect".
A special CBI court in Delhi recently announced that the former minister can visit his hometown. Raja was granted bail on the grounds of parity. Earlier, the special CBI court, while granting bail to Raja, said that he cannot travel to Tamil Nadu without the court's permission.
