Andhra Pradesh: Petrol to be cheaper by Rs 1.19/litre

Petrol Hike
Hyderabad, Jun 7: The Andhra Pradesh government on Wednesday announced a reduction in VAT by 2 per cent in the state, bringing down the petrol price by Rs 1.19/litre.

The move has, however, been accepted by the Election Commission. The step comes ahead of the by-poll elections that will take place on Jun 12.

According to official sources, the poll panel granted permission to reduce petrol prices as the model code of conduct is in force for the by-polls for 18 assembly seats and one Lok Sabha constituency.

An official statement said that Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Kiran Kumar Reddy gave a green signal for the move and a formal order is likely to be issued in this regard on Thursday.
