'Osama was a generous host, spent all his wealth on attacks'
"When you entered his house you would be surprised. It was a very simple house, with some wooden beds and plastic coverings and very little furniture," said Zawahiri, wearing a white turban in a new video posted online called "Days with the imam, Part Two".
"If the Sheikh invited us to his house, he would give us what he had in the way of bread, vegetables, rice - whatever was available he would give us."
Terror head Laden was killed on May 2011, in Abbottabad, Pakistan.
"He spent all his money on jihad," he said.
He also said that bin Laden provided an aid of $50,000 to help finance bombings of US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. He also said that Bin Laden possessed not more than $55,000 in his name.
Recollecting about bin Laden, he said that the al-Qaeda leader always told his fellow warriors to shun the use of electricity and get used to the hardships of life.
Recalling an instance he said that once bin Laden bought a herd of sheep for his frequent visitors in Afghanistan.
"He was known for his generosity with guests. He would slaughter livestock for them and give them tasty food."
