NRHM scam: Raids underway at premises of Ex-Health Min

Lucknow/Kanpur, Jun 2: The Central Bureau of Investigation (

) is carrying out raids in the premises of former state Health Minister, Anant Mishra as part of the

scam. The raids are carried out in two places in Lucknow and one in Kanpur.

Mishra was earlier questioned by the CBI in the NRHM scam as well as the murder case of Vinod Arya.

Apart from the scam, investigations are on the murder of CMO and the raid comes a couple of days after an FIR was filed by the CBI on the appointment of nearly 100 Chief Medical Officers (CMOs). The investigating agency had alleged that the appointment was made flouting all rules and thereby was illegal.

As per CBI sources the state Health Ministry was divided to felicitate the creation of more posts and that crores was siphoned off through illegal CMO posts in Uttar Pradesh. The Ministry was understood to be bifurcated into the Health and Family Welfare on the directives of the then CM Mayawati. The same was made against the advice of the Union Health Secretary.

Both the ministries are headed by Babu Singh Kushwaha and Ram Prakash Jaiswal, both of who are in custody. The CBI has also filed a fresh FIR against Kushwaha for the larger role he played in the multi-crore scam. The CBI now intends to file a case against top BSP leaders in the massive corruption in the health mission scam.
