Digvijay Singh
Dharmavada (MP), May 25: After lying low for a while, Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh is back in the news not for his eyebrow raising comments but for something totally different. In what can be seen as a path being cut out for his son Jaivardhan's political career, Digvijay has stated that senior leader of a "certain age", including himself, should retire from active politics.

He made the comment during his son’s second yatra at Dharmavada village in the Guna district of Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday. Digvijay commented, “We have reached a certain age. I think it is time that politicians of my age retire from politics and the youth must come forward and take over.”

Hailing from a royal family, Digvijay and his younger brother Laxman are the inheritors of the erstwhile Raghogarh principality in Guna. The former Madhya Pradesh CM, however, ruled any political sanyas and said that he is ready to contest the Lok Sabha election if the party gives him a ticket. But he stated that he will not contest the Assembly elections. He said, “I am not going to contest assembly elections any more but will contest the Lok Sabha elections if the party gives me a ticket.”
