Sangma joins Presidential poll fray on BJD, AIADMK support

Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik confirmed that his party would be supporting Sangma for President. He also stated that he had a discussion with Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa on this matter and that even the AIADMK has decided to back Sangma for the top post.
A prominent member of the NCP from the North East, Sangma had commented on an earlier occasion, "It has been 60 years, there has been President from all communities but ours. We have sent a request to leaders of all parties seeking for appointment."
Earlier, Sangma had commented on the Presidential elections and stirred a hornets nest when he said that a tribal candidate should be made the President. He had then commented, "I am not the candidate. We are trying to meet the leaders of different political parties to agree in principle (tribal candidate for the presidency)... After agreeing in principle, we will decide the candidate."
More details awaited.
