Trouble brews for Mayawati's parks, SIT to probe

, May 15: A Special Investigation Team (SIT) set up by the

government will now look into the scam in the construction of parks in Noida and Lucknow during former Chief Minister

's tenure in the state.

An FIR against the project manager and junior manager, who were involved in the construction of the Kanshiram Park, has already been filed by the Uttar Pradesh police.

The UP police has requested for the cancellation of the passports of three bureaucrats, who were allegedly involved in granting permission to build the memorials in the state, said a report on the CNN-IBN.

The Mayawati government came under scanner for massive irregularities in the construction of her dream park. Reports reveal that elephants, the symbol of BSP, worth Rs 7 lakh were transported for a sum of Rs 45 lakh. In a bid to keep the state exchequer in dark, the latter were shown inflated or forged bills.

The UP police has also arrested Aditya Agarwal, a trader by profession, who got the contract for constructing the elephants.
