BMW hit and run case: 21yr old accused surrenders; gets bail

The incident happened on Tuesday, May 5 in Gurgaon when the BMW rammed into the vehicle that was carrying Kshama Chopra. The driver who was driving her car also died due to the impact of the crash. The person driving the BMW was absconding for the last 10 days and avoiding law all this while. Another person called Rajesh claiming himself the driver of the BMW had come forward citing that he was the reason for the accident. He had also surrendered in a Gurgaon court.
The police, on the other hand, had stated that the Suraj Singh Sherawat, son of the BMW owner Devender Sherawat, was a suspect since they believed that the person who had surrendered claiming to be the driver of the BMW was in actuality not the driver of the vehicle on that fateful day.
It has now merged that Rajesh is a relative of the owner of the BMW car. The incidence of reckless driving is on the rise, the latest one being that BMW hit and run case that saw the death of Kshama Chopra and her driver Sanjay Sethi who were traveling in their Tata Indigo car.
According to eyewitnesses, the driver of the BMW car immediately fled the scene. The police had earlier claimed that Suraj was not co-operating with the probe.
