Yeddyurappa receives SC blow; CBI probe ordered against him

New Delhi, May 11: In what can be seen as a setback to former Karnataka CM BS Yeddyurappa, the

has upheld the CEC report and ordered a CBI probe into the

scam. The SC has slapped charges against Yeddyurappa on nepotism, illegal land acquisition and favoring top mining companies.

The CEC panel had found irregularities over his involvement in the multi-crore mining scam. The panel had found that Yeddyurappa had favoured mining companies for financial gains.

It remains to be seen how the BJP's central leadership will take the news after it has been training guns on the UPA government over various corruption charges.

The Apex Court has asked the CBI to place its report before it by Aug 3.
