Karnataka: Forest officer battered to death by tourists

Karnataka, May 10: A forest officer in Karnataka was allegedly beaten to death by a group of tourists in a fit of rage after he stopped them from feeding crocodiles at the Dandeli-Anshi tiger reserve.

MH Nayak, Assistant conservator of forest, was beaten with a stone on the head for stopping a group of tourists from feeding crocodiles at the Kali River located at Dandeli-Anshi tiger reserve.

The officer suffered internal injuries on his back and legs and died on Tuesday night.

The police later arrested six tourists including two women for the crime on May 6. The women were, however, released later.

Dandeli locals later blocked all the roads in a bid to register their protest over the death of the officer.
