Bhubaneswar, May 2: South Korean Ambassador to India Kim Joong-Keun said Seoul was waiting for New Delhi's proposal for setting up a nuclear energy station in India. "...We in Korea were expecting it but because of the not very positive atmosphere around nuclear power and energy, we are waiting for India's proposal in this regard," he said replying to a question here by reporters.

Jong-Keun said India had very close relations with South Korea in the fields of nuclear science and technology and an agreement was signed on civil nuclear energy co-operation between the two countries in July last year when President Pratibha Patil had visited the country.

"Since then, I met Dr (Srikumar) Bannerji, (former) chairman of Atomic Energy Commission, and we discussed how to develop our co-operation in the nuclear science and technology area."

As a first step, both countries have agreed to exchange scientists and the experts more than before, the Ambassador, who concluded his two-day visit to Odisha, said. Jong-Keun visited the proposed steel plant site of South Korean steel major Posco, which has run into opposition from locals, during the visit.
