BJP backs Abdul Kalam as next President

New Delhi, Apr 30: The major political party Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has rejected the names of Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Vice-President Hamid Ansari for the upcoming Presidential polls. "Pranab is a Congressman and Ansari is not of that stature," BJP added.

Meanwhile, BJP said the party will support for Dr Kalam only if Trinamool Congress (TMC), Samajwadi Party (SP) and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) proposed his name for the upcoming polls.

"If a name is supported by Mamata Banerjee and Sharad Pawar, we will support it. If Mulayam Singh Yadav takes Kalam's name, then we can respond favourably," BJP leader Sushma Swaraj said.

Kalam is less bothered about the presidential polls, saying "Let us wait for some time...After some time, you ask me."
