90% Indians want Abdul Kalam as Prez; Karunanidhi cornered?

Bangalore, Apr 30: Speculations are on over the candidates names for the upcoming Presidential election in the country. The poll will be held in Jul 2012, but Indians have already declared that APJ Abdul Kalam is the only person whom they prefer the most.

A survey conducted by OneIndia shows that 1,924 (89.7%) persons want Kalam as the next President of India, while only 90 (4.2%), 86 (4%), 27 (1.3%), 19 (0.9%) people showed their preferences towards the Union Finance Minister, Pranab Mukherjee; Bihar CM, Nitish Kumar; Punjab CM, Parkash Singh Badal and former UP CM, Mulayam Singh Yadav, respectively.

The survey result surfaced just a day after when former Tamil Nadu CM and DMK supremo M Karunanidhi reportedly claimed that Kalam "is unacceptable" for the post of President of the nation. However, rest of the people in the nation still have opportunity to caste their votes. However, sources also informed that Karunanidhi along with many others raised voice for the present Vice President Hamid Ansari. Reports over Karunanidhi's statements came at the time when AK Antony on Sunday, Apr 29 flew down to Chennai to discuss the candidates' names with the DMK Chief for the upcoming poll.

Meanwhile, Pranab Mukherjee on Monday urged the people of the country to stop speculations. "Don't indulge in speculation," said the Finance Minister while reacting towards the questions hurled at him from media personalities.

However, citing the result of the survey by OneIndia, it is quite clear that Indians have already shown - whom (Abdul Kalam) they actually want for the prestigious and important post - President of India.
