Rice meant for mid-day meal scheme seized from market

Faizabad, Apr 28: As many as 395 bags of rice meant for mid-day meal scheme were today seized in a raid by district authorities here.

District magistrate J P Gupta raided a rice mill after getting a tip-off that a truck loaded with rice belonging to mid-day meal scheme is being smuggled out from there, officials said.

The mill reportedly belonged to a former BSP MLA. The rice was to be sold in black market. This truck was loaded from Food Corporation of India ware house and was to be unloaded at distribution centre at Tarun Block of Bikapur tehsil.
