Kanpur: Blast in house kills one, ATS called to probe

Kanpur, Apr 23: A woman was killed and another seriously injured today when a powerful blast took place in a house in Colonelganj area here, police said.

The blast occurred at the house of Chote Mian at around 10 AM, killing Rana Khatoon and injuring another woman, they said.

Meanwhile, a team of Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) was called to probe the matter after particles of gunpowder were found from the blast site, DIG Amitabh Yash said.

According to neighbours, the house was used by the owners as a godown to keep firecrackers and the blast could have been triggered because of that, Yash said.
