After condemning CPM channels, Didi to bring new channel

Kolkata, Apr 21: West Bengal government on Saturday, Apr 21 has decided to launch its own TV channel and newspaper so that the government can publicise its activities and achievements.

"Government work is not being highlighted properly. We need our own news channel and paper to inform the people," Mamata Banerjee said. Media is not focusing on the good work of the government, only covering the negative news.

While addressing a party meeting in Kolkata, Mamata said "I love the media. Some people are always waiting to call the media with some news - and especially so for some channels. But let me tell you, don't enter the hospital premises. Even I have a limit."

Mamata threatened Centre on financial relief as she had insisted UPA on tax moratorium for Bengal earlier. According to Mamata, Centre has not done anything for the state and now she will raise this issue again during her meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Meanwhile, Mamata has demanded special package for the state and set a deadline of 15 days time for Centre.
