127 feared dead in deadly plane crash in Islamabad, Pakistan

The incident happened when the commercial airline was nearing the airport for landing while it crashed a few miles from Islamabad airport, near Chaklala airbase, Rawalpindi. According to reports in Geo News, Boeing 737 had 129 passengers on board, including 57 women, 55 men, 11 children and six crew members.
The plane is believed to have taken off from Karachi at 5 pm and was supposed to have landed in Islamabad at 6:50 pm, but crashed just before landing. Rescue teams rushed to the area, and officials recovered at least 110 bodies from the site.
The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has cited bad weather that led to the crash. According to reports from eyewitnesses, the plane was already in flames when it was descending to land. Other reports have cited that the aircraft was struck by lightning, during landing, as there was heavy rains accompanied by thunder storm and hail. The airplane’s flight data recorder (Black Box) has been recovered.
