Jaya's govt betrayed by Centre on allocation of Kerosene?

Tamil Nadu
Chennai, Apr 18: Tamil Nadu Food Minister S Kamaraj on Monday, Apr 18 claimed that the state government has been betrayed by the Congress-led UPA government in the allocation of Kerosene.

Defending Congress, Congress member NR Rangarajan said that Centre has decided about the quantum of kerosene to be allocated to different states and it is based on the number of gas connections being used by each state. Therefore, Tamil Nadu government has not been betrayed by the Centre, he added.

Centre supplied 59,780 kilolitres of kerosene per month till Mar 2010. Then the allocation was reduced to 52,806 kl per month, after Jun 2011, it was further reduced to 44,572 kl per month, Rangarajan said.

Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa wrote a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh asking him to increase the allocation.

Meanwhile, the allocation of kerosene has been further reduced to 39,429 kilolitres for Apr 2012 and hence the present quantum of Kerosene could fulfill only 60.53 per cent of the state’s requirement.
