Rajasthan: Another newborn baby girl dumped in garbage

Udaipur, Apr 15: The saga over injustices against baby girls in India continues. Another newborn baby has been found abandoned on the edge of a sewer line in a deserted area in Udaipur, Rajasthan.

Morning joggers found the baby near the sewer on Saturday, Apr 14 and informed police. When the cops failed to identify the parents of poor child, an NGO moved forward and adopted the baby girl.

A police official, while informing about the incident, said, "Some morning joggers heard the cries of a baby. They spotted her lying on the brink of the sewer line in Udaipur Road area of the city."

"The girl was rushed to a hospital where she is undergoing treatment. The girl had been dumped in the wee hours Saturday. It seems that the child was dumped because it was a girl. People here prefer boys over girls. It is cruel to dump the baby in a sewer line," added the police official.

However, the police have already registered an FIR against the unidentified parents who allegedly abandoned the baby.
