Bangalore: HAL officials dismantle Chopper
According to HAL authorities, both the pilot and trainee on board escaped unhurt.
Schweizer 300C trainer (VT-HAV) helicopter was flown by Air Commodore (Retd) Roj Assey at 2.30 pm and flew for two hours and ten minutes before emergency landing.
Talking to the reporters, a HAL official said, "The Schweizer-300C helicopter of our rotary wing academy, which was on a training sortie, landed on top of a building near BEML (Bharat Earth Movers Ltd), Kalyana Mantap in the eastern suburb. Its pilots Air Commodore (Retd) Roj Assey, 56, and trainee captain Digvijay Singh, 25, ejected safely with minor injuries."
"The pilot controlled the helicopter to make an emergency landing on top of the building as there was no open place available in the vicinity, where he could have landed immediately," said HAL officials.
HAL officials said that there were no damages to the building, but the residents of Maitri apartment claimed that they heard a "very loud sound" so they rushed to the terrace and found that the walls have been damaged.
