Akhilesh promises free medical, engg education to girls

Lucknow, Apr 13: Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday promised free engineering and medical education to girls across the state.

The announcement was made by the chief minister at Isabella Thoburn College (IT) in Lucknow, while addressing a function.

Akhilesh also announced an assistance of Rs 1 crore for the new hostel building of the college and said the government will extend all possible help in its future needs.

The Samajwadi Party leader also promised Rs 1 crore towards the building of new hostel in the college adding that all possible help would be extended towards its needs.

He said that the government would help in taking the college to the university level and also released a postal stamp to mark the completion of the college's 125 years of foundation.

Akhilesh also said that the government would set up information technology parks in the state.

He said people thought Samajwadi Party was against computers and English, adding that the government will dole out laptops and tablets to students for their betterment.
