Check at what time Tsunami is likely to hit India

Bangalore, Apr 11: Tsunami alert has been issued to 28 countries including India following a massive earthquake in Sumatra region. The countries which see the Tsunami warnings on Wednesday, Apr 11 are - Indonesia, India, Sri Lanka, Australia, Myanmar, Thailand, the Maldives and other Indian Ocean islands, Malaysia, Pakistan, Somalia, Oman, Iran, Bangladesh, Kenya, South Africa and Singapore.

Meanwhile, many people on social networking site such as Facebook posted some messages regarding the possible timings when tsunami is likely to hit Indian coastal regions. [LATEST UPDATE: Indonesia reels under aftershocks of 8.2; India shakes too]

Tsunami is likely to hit Chennai at around 1657 hrs (4:57 PM), Mumbai - 2138 hrs (9:38 PM, Great Nicobar - 1507 hrs (3:07 PM) and Andamans- 1546 hrs (3:46 PM).

According to the tsunami centre's warning, quakes of such a magnitude "have the potential to generate a widespread destructive tsunami that can affect coastlines across the entire Indian Ocean basin". They also said that a wave of 0.2m height is expected.
