IPL freebies:BBMP refuses to clear trash from B'lore stadium

Chinnaswamy Stadium
Bangalore, Apr 10: BBMP has refused to clear the garbage piled up in the Chinnaswamy Stadium following the row of free IPL passes being provided to corporators.

According to Deputy mayor S Harish, for every match, the Karnataka State Cricket Association must give Rs 10-15 lakh towards garbage clearance and as advertisement tax.

Sources reveal that the zonal joint commissioner has been instructed to not clear the garbage pile in the stadium.

Reports suggest that the BBMP has now sourced garbage clearance to an outside agency, while BBMP team- Prahari has been asked to keep a track on the trucks as garbage has to be dumped at the designated place.

"Tax has to be paid for every advertisement that is displayed inside and outside the stadium. Tax has to be paid even for the sponsors' logos on the players' dress during the match. Nothing has been paid," said the Deputy mayor said.

Meanwhile, the BBMP refused to accept 250 complimentary tickets offered to its corporators.

On being asked why the KSCA was attacked during IPL matches by the BBMP, a senior official said that it is only during IPL matches the advertisement tax is earned, not at other times.

He further said Rs 6.55 crore in monthly rent was demanded by the public works department, which owns the Chinnaswamy Stadium land.
