LPG gas cylinders
Chennai, Apr 6: Robbers and thieves in Chennai may not attack you if you have enough gold, jewellery in your house but they will not spare you if you have LPG cylinders at home.

In a shocking incident, in the city, a group of robbers trespassed into a house and took away LPG gas cylinders instead of gold and other jewellery. A 81-year-old Vasantha Krishnan on Wednesday, Apr 4 became one of the victims who faced the wrath of the robbers who threatened to kill her for the cylinders.

The son of the elderly woman lodged a legal complaint with the police. The woman has been quoted as saying, "I was cooking in the kitchen when the robbers slipped into the house. For safety, we keep our gas cylinders in a garage abutting the kitchen. They are connected to the gas stove in the kitchen through a small opening in the wall."

"When I called the gas dealer, he said, I would have to pay 4,000 for new two cylinders, but delivery would take more than three weeks. Our neighbours gave us their extra cylinder for the time being," the lady added.

According to sources, stolen LPG gas cylinders are being sold for Rs 5,000 to 7,000 in black markets and police claim that there is no way to track stolen or lost cylinders.
