Akhilesh reverses Maya's decision on quota for SCs in jobs

Lucknow, April 3: The newly elected Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has reversed Mayawati government's decision of providing reservation to Schedule Caste (SC) officers in promotion in government jobs.

Earlier, the Allahabad High Court had not allowed Mayawati's government to provide reservation to SCs officers in promotion in the government job. But challenging High Court order Mayawati's government had appealed in Supreme Court to allow to provide the reservation for SCs.

Meanwhile, the UP government on Tuesday issued a statement that it stands with the High Court's order, which has confirmed that there will be no reservation to SCs officers in promotion in government jobs.

Akhilesh had earlier permanently disbanded a luxury hospital established at the chief minister's residence by ex-CM Mayawati, which was set up by Mayawati's government in 2008 at Chief Minister's residence to provide emergency medical treatment as and when needed.
