Jayalalithaa demands entire power from K'kulam n-plant

Jayalalithaa
Chennai, Mar 31: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Saturday, Mar 31 demanded the entire 2000MW power to be generated by two units of Kudankulam Nuclear Plant (KNNP) be given to the state in view of massive power shortage.

The state cabinet on Mar 19 had given the green signal for beginning of work at the plant which remained stalled for several months following protest by anti-nuclear activists and locals led by People's Movement Against Nuclear Energy citing safety concerns.

Meanwhile, Jayalalithaa has written letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh mentioning that "it would be proper and justifiable that the entire power to be generated from the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant is made available to Tamil Nadu. This is also inevitable as the transmission corridor congestion problem still continues and has also been brought to your notice."

Moreover, Jayalalithaa has also demanded to increase the powers from central pool as the state has been facing massive power crisis since last few months.
