Defence deal: Bribe offered when Deve Gowda was PM, says HDK

Bangalore, Mar 29: Former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy on Thursday, Mar 29 dropped another bomb over the Army Chief bribery scam saying that even his father - Deve Gowda was offered a bribe when he (Deve Gowda) was the Prime Minister of India between June 1996 and April 1997. A middleman had approached HDK and offered a bribe to take favour from his (HDK's) father (Deve Gowda) over a defence deal. However, Kumaraswamy has not yet revealed the name of the middleman who approached the former PM with a bribe.

Kumaraswamy, during a press conference in Bangalore on Thursday, was taking questions about Indian Army Chief and the ongoing bribe controversy in which the Army Chief VK Singh claimed that he was offered Rs 14 crore bribe by former Lt Gen Tejinder Singh.
