War in Indian Army:Defamation suit filed against Chief Singh

New Delhi, Mar 27: Indian Army Chief, VK Singh landed in a legal soup on Tuesday, Mar 27 when retired Lieutenant General Tejinder Singh filed a defamation suit against the Army Chief. The Lieutenant General took the extreme step following news that he (Tejinder Singh) had offered Rs 14 crore bribe to VK Singh.

Union Defence Minister AK Antony in his spirited speech in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday said, "All my life I have fought corruption. If anyone is found guilty, whoever it may be, I will take action. Will cancel any contract if corruption charges are proved."

Antony also admitted in the floor of the house that Army Chief Singh had intimated him on the case and validated Singh's claims that he was offered a bribe by Lt Gen (Retd) Tejinder Singh. Antony stated, "Army Chief told me about this incident a year ago, Tejinder Singh offered him Rs 14 crore bribe."

On taking the matter further, Antony said, "I told him pursue this case, he said he didn't want to, I don't know why he did so."

The Army Chief stormed the nation with his stunning statement that he was offered Rs 14 crore bribe by Tejinder Singh. VK Singh accused the former army man saying that Tejender Singh had offered him money on behalf of two companies which supplies vehicles for army to clear a tranche of 600 sub-standard vehicles.
