Rupee up 14 paise against dollar in early trade

Mumbai, Mar 27: The rupee today gained 14 paise to 51.13 against the US dollar on the Interbank Foreign Exchange market in early trade, on increased foreign fund inflows amid firm equity markets.

Dealers said besides increased foreign fund inflows, gains in euro and other Asian currencies against the American currency in the overseas market supported the rupee. The rupee had lost 10 paise to close at nearly 10-week low of 51.27/28 against the dollar yesterday, following weak stock markets and sustained demand for the Greenback from importers.

Meanwhile, the 30-share BSE Sensex today rose by 177.56 points, or 1.01 per cent, to 17,230.34 in early trade.
