Def Min AK Antony admits that Gen Singh was offered bribe

AK Antony
New Delhi, Mar 27: After Indian Army Chief General VK Singh stirred up a storm with his stunning revelations that he was offered a bribe of Rs 14 crore by an ex-Army man who acted as an equipment lobbyist to procure sub standard equipment, Minister Antony decided to clear the matter in the Rajya Sabha in a matter that has clearly catapulted to something big.

Antony in his spirited speech in the Rajya Sabha said, "All my life I have fought corruption. If anyone is found guilty, whoever it may be, I will take action. Will cancel any contract if corruption charges are proved."

He admitted in the floor of the house that Army Chief Singh had intimated him on the case and validated Singh's claims that he was offered a bribe by Lt Gen (Retd) Tejinder Singh. Antony stated, "Army chief told me about this incident a year ago, Tejinder Singh offered him Rs 14 crore bribe."

On taking the matter further, Antony said, "I told him pursue this case, he said he didn't want to, I don't know why he did so."
