Goondaraj back in UP; SP worker opens fire at BDO in Jhansi

This incident comes after repeated warnings by Akhilesh that those SP workers resorting to goondaism and hooliganism with be dealt with an iron hand. The warning has obviously landed on deaf ears with the considerable spike in violent behaviour by Samajwadi party workers.
Bharat Singh Yadav, reportedly stormed into the BDO's residence in Chirgaon, Jhansi, and opened fire at him. After suffering from injuries to his leg, he was taken to the nearby district hospital. A case of attempt to murder has not yet been registered against Yadav.
According to a statement given by the BDO, the attack was premeditated as an act of revenge for filing an FIR against the worker for apparently rigging the 2010 election to the legislative council. Srivastava has been quoted as saying, "At around 8:45 pm, he (Yadav) came and said that he wants to talk with me. Then I took him into my house. He asked that why had I registered an FIR against him. He asked in an aggressive tone, 'Should I show you how to fire a gun?' Then he took the revolver from the hands of a man who accompanied him. He fired it on me." He added, "I don't know which party he belongs to."
In the unprovoked attack, Yadav also suffered injuries. Incidentally, his wife Kalyani Devi is also a local block head.
