Dawood Ibrahim had 20 fake passports to escape from India

Mumbai, Mar 26: Dawood Ibrahim, India’s most wanted criminal had 20 fake passports, which helped him to flee from India.

According to Indian investigation agencies report, the underworld don has at least 20 fake passports and eight were issued in Mumbai. The report further claim that his adversary Chhota Rajan has eight passports and Dawood's lieutenant Chhota Shakeel has six passports.

Moreover, most senior D-Company members including Tiger Memon, Ayub Memon, Ali Moosa and Pathan Izaz - have bogus Indian and Pakistani passports.

Reacting to the matter, the additional director general of police (DGP) of Maharashtra ATS Rakesh Maria said that the figures of fake passports may not be definitive, but there is no denying that gangsters hold several fake passport that allow them to elude the authorities.

The DGP also said that gangsters adopt different ways to acquire bogus passports and primary among which is a method called 'mundi cut'. In this method, the original photograph is cut out of a stolen passport and replaced with the don's.

Besides this, another most preferred method to get a genuine passport using fake documents. Some criminals also paid lucrative amounts to travel agents who bribe officials and get the verification procedure ignored, said DGP.
