Mixed trend prevails in Chennai foodgrains market

Chennai, Mar 24: The prices of urad dal, gram dal, maida and sooji went up while rest all other commodities remained unaltered in the wholesale food grains market here during this week.

On Monday, urad dal moved up by Rs 200 per quintal over its previous week close and maintained the same rate to end the week at Rs 5,200.

Similarly, gram dal hardened by Rs 100 per quintal on Monday to Rs 4,400 and closed at the same rate as against its previous rate of Rs 4,300.

Both maida (90 kgs) and sooji (90 kgs) went up by Rs 50 each to Rs 1,600 and Rs 1,900 over their previous week closing rates.

Thoor dal at Rs 5,800, moong dal Rs 5,800, sugar Rs 2,850 and wheat at Rs 1,850 remained unchanged from their previous week’s levels.

The following are the wholesale rates of various agri- commodities today (in rupees per quintal, except where stated otherwise): Thoor dal Rs 5,800, urad dal Rs 5,200, moong dal Rs 5,800, gram dal Rs 4,400, sugar Rs 2,850, wheat Rs 1,850, maida (90 kg) Rs 1,600, sooji (90 kg) Rs 1,900.
