New Delhi, Mar 23: Contradictory opinions and views flooded in India over its decision to vote against Sri Lanka to support the US moved resolution in the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) meet in Geneva on Thursday, Mar 22.

While many support India's decision to cast the vote against Sri Lanka, others feel that India may face Sri Lanka's wrath in near future.

DMK MP Kanimozhi showed her appreciation for the UPA government and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh saying, ""Most important is making sure that Tamils get their rights and they get justice."

Manmohan Singh, while taking questions over the vote, said, "We don't want to infringe on Sri Lanka's sovereignty but our concerns should be expressed so Tamils get justice and dignity."

However, Janata Party chief, Subramanian Swamy, during an interview with TV channel CNN-IBN, criticised the decision and claimed, "It's a monumental blunder. India has shown that we don't care for our backyard. We became a junior partner and destroyed our independence."

"India has taken the right stand for the wrong reasons," said Indian diplomat KC Singh.

Meanwhile, the associate editor, The Pioneer, Kanchan Gupta tweeted, "After trawling UNHRC for close to 4 hours, I am beginning to see what it really is: A big joke, cracked by pompous idiots."
