Sri Lanka, Mar 21: A day after India decided to vote in favour of US resolution against Sri Lanka, the country's foreign minister G.L. Peiris pressed India to rethink over its decision.

Talking to India's foreign minister SM Krishna, Peiris said that it was "shattered" by India's stand, that a close friend like India was voting against Sri Lanka. He said that this would prompt other countries to vote against them.

The step to vote against Sri Lanka came after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the Parliament said that the former should take steps to curb the alleged human rights violation committed by the Lankan forces.

Earlier, Sri Lankan media termed India's stand a 'body blow'.
