TN sears as work on Kudankulam plant resumes;Sec 144 imposed

According to a top police officer, "Fifteen police pickets will be established at strategic points and senior police officers, including Superintendents of Police, will be involved in monitoring the situation at these points." 3000 police personnel have been stationed in the area and many were arrested as preventive measures.
Monday saw key functionaries of the anti-KNPP activists arrested that included the legal adviser of People's Movement Against Nuclear Energy (PMANE) as well as others accused of instigating the locals against the plant.
Police have registered cases against 9 people under various sections of the IPC, for holding demonstrations without permission, preventing KNPP plant officials from discharging their duty and blocking roads.
Sec 144 has been imposed on the Radhapuram taluk where the plant is located. Police force from neighbouring Kerala is also present there. There are Central Industrial Security Force personnel from Kerala who arrived at the Kudankulam area last night. As many as 100 anti-nuclear activists were arrested last night as a preventive measure.
