15 people dead after train rams into jeep in Hathras, UP

Hathras (UP), Mar 20: Fifteen people have been reported dead when the Mathura-Kasganj Express train rammed into a jeep in Hathras in Uttar Pradesh. Another 5 or 6 people are believed to be injured and are rushed to the nearest district hospital. The incident occurred at an unmanned crossing when the train rammed into an overcrowded jeep.

The accident is understood to have taken place near Madu Railway Station at 7:19 am on Tuesday. According to Superintendent of Police Chandra Prakash, the overcrowded jeep was carrying close to 17 passengers. Two of the injured is reported to be extremely critical.

According to onlookers, the jeep tried to cross the unmanned crossing even as they saw the train approaching.
