Orissa: Maoists abduct Italian tourists

Maoists
Kolkata, Mar 18: Two Italians have reportedly been kidnapped by maoists near the Kandhamal-Ganjam border, Orissa on Saturday, said reports.

The two were taking pictures of the tribals, an act banned by the government, when they were allegedly abducted, said reports.

Though there was no official confirmation from the police, an audio tape sent by Sabyasachi Panda, top Maoist leader in Orissa confirms the report.

The audio tape alleges that the hostages allegedly took objectionable pictures of the tribals.

The tape calls for the government to stoop to 13 demands made by the Maoists a year ago in return of the hostages.

Reports reveal that Sunday is the deadline set by the Maoists.
