AP: Sonia Gandhi to recommend Rajya Sabha candidates

Hyderabad, Mar 17: With the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Botcha Satyanarayana on Friday, Mar 16 discussed with the Congress President Sonia Gandhi on the selection of aspirants for four of the six Rajya Sabha seats. The seats would fall vacant on April due to retirement of the sitting members.

While the last date for nominations is Mar 19 and it is difficult to select candidates for the four seats.

Meanwhile, Kiran seemed to be reluctant to let Chiranjeevi into the Rajya Sabha while Telugu superstar and party chief Chiranjeevi, who is a member of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly is all set to bag a seat in the RS.

After the merger of Praja Rajyam Party with Congress, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi had promised a seat to Chiranjeevi in the Union Cabinet.
